A child’s first years set the pattern for a lifetime, but many new parents are unsure how to get their child started on the right path.

Baby University in Chattanooga offers classes and in-home visits on nutrition, language skills and discipline to parents of children up to two years old.

Chattanooga hopes this program will lower its infant mortality rate — now 60 percent higher than the national average — and prepare kids to thrive as soon as they enter kindergarten.
