Work that improves lives

Being a part of the BlueCross team means we’re doing vital work that makes a positive impact on people’s lives through a culture of service centered on our members, customers and communities.

We believe that when people feel valued and respected, they do their best work. That’s why we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We recognize and appreciate the unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives each person brings, because understanding one another helps us better understand and serve our members.

Our culture is built on a remote-first workplace that offers family-friendly benefits, career development support, and a welcoming community that respects and makes a place for all.

An accident, its aftermath and a career

Jae Yi’s journey to becoming a pharmacist began after his family immigrated to the U.S. from South Korea, escaping economic hardship. At 21, a devastating car accident left Jae with significant injuries, including the loss of his left leg and limited use of his right arm. Years of rehabilitation led him to community college and aspirations in engineering. However, a severe infection after arm surgery and the attentive intervention of a pharmacist changed his life’s direction. Inspired by the pharmacist who helped save his arm, Jae pursued a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and now serves as a clinical review pharmacist, drawing on his patient experiences to guide his work. “It’s my desire to use my personal experience to bring the patient perspective to what I do,” Jae says. “We put our members first, and I always want to help with that.”

Celebrating our engaged workforce

We believe delivering consistent value for our members starts with a workforce that understands where we’re headed and why it matters. That’s why we hold regular strategy sessions throughout the year, giving employees a clear view of our priorities and how their work supports affordability, reliability, and long‑term value. This shared understanding helps us work more effectively and better serve the people and communities who rely on us.

This focus on clarity and purpose supports strong engagement and performance. Our employee engagement index remains above 90, a nationally leading achievement we’ve reached for nine years in a row. And 2025 engagement survey results revealed that:

1 %

of employees understand how their jobs contribute to our mission

1 %

of employees believe colleagues are passionate about providing exceptional customer service

1 %

of employees believe colleagues are willing to go beyond for the success of BlueCross

Exploring Filipino roots in Tennessee

Carolyn Habba, a research associate at BlueCross, thrives on solving problems for BlueCare Plus members who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. Growing up in a multicultural family — with a Filipino mother and Chaldean-American father — Carolyn often felt like an observer, piecing together her heritage on her own. After surviving Hurricane Harvey in 2017, she moved to Georgia and joined BlueCross, where the warmth and support of her colleagues helped her heal from past depression and embrace her background. Carolyn now enjoys sharing her unique experience with others, believing that cultural understanding bridges gaps in both her work and personal life. “It’s important to remember, that’s another human being on the other end of the line who is working and striving for their family and loved ones. That’s something everyone has in common.”

With a background in nursing, Bonnie brings firsthand experience to her work analyzing data and enhancing programs that prioritize member wellbeing.

Her career path began with a passion for science and a drive to help others, leading her from hospital nursing roles to BlueCross, where she supports quality improvement and educates teams on the positive impact of every member interaction.

Bonnie values compassion and strives to ensure members feel supported on their health journeys. “At the heart of everything we do is a simple promise to take care of our members.”
