BlueCross Appoints Decosta Jenkins to Board of Directors

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Decosta Jenkins, former president and CEO of Nashville Electric Service, has been named to the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BlueCross) board of directors effective April 1, 2023.

Jenkins currently serves on the boards of Pinnacle Financial Partners, I3 Verticals, LLC., and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. He also serves on the board of trustees at the University of Tennessee and is the former chairman of the board for the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and the American Public Power Association (APPA).

Jenkins has also previously served as a member of regional and national associations focused on civic, energy and environmental issues, such as the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Customer Planning Council and the APPA CEO Climate Change and Generation Policy Task Force.

“Decosta’s proven record of leadership and extensive involvement in our communities will help us meet the needs of BlueCross members statewide,” said Emily Reynolds, chairman of the BlueCross board.  “We are excited to welcome him to our board, and I know his voice will advance our efforts to improve access to health care for Tennessee customers and businesses.”

A certified public accountant, Jenkins earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee.
