The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation is contributing $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support their work in helping victims of Hurricane Harvey.
“Our hearts are with Houston and all those in the Gulf Coast region whose lives have been changed forever – losing loved ones, homes and more,” said Roy Vaughn, executive director of the Foundation. “The American Red Cross has more than 2,000 disaster workers on the ground to provide relief, and we are proud to support their efforts.”
The Federal Emergency Management Agency reports that it has received more than 364,000 registrations for assistance, and that more than 34,000 people sought refuge in shelters operating in Texas and Louisiana.
Federal, state and local agencies – along with nonprofit partners like the American Red Cross – continue working to protect the lives and safety of affected residents.
