CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has named Chelsea Johnson as its director of community relations and BlueCross Foundation. She replaces Scott Wilson, who served in the role since 2018 and was recently promoted to vice president of corporate communications and community relations.
As director, Johnson will guide the long-term strategy for charitable giving and civic support across the state, including overseeing projects for the BlueCross Healthy Place program, the signature cause of the BlueCross Foundation. She will also be responsible for building relationships with non-profits, municipalities and other potential external partners.
“Chelsea has a proven track record of leadership that balances a charitable mindset with wise investment of BlueCross Foundation assets,” said Wilson. “She thoughtfully builds partnerships with the aim of positively impacting the Tennessee communities we serve.”
Johnson has been with BlueCross since 2009, when she began her career in the corporate communications department, supporting internal and external events. In 2011, she began working with the community relations and foundation team. She previously served as program manager, helping distribute funding, form strategic partnerships, and develop and oversee the BlueCross Healthy Place Program.
Johnson has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
