BlueCross Names Tate to Lead Pharmacy Management

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has selected Dr. Natalie Tate as vice president of pharmacy. She will oversee and coordinate pharmacy management programs and teams, and work with providers across the state to help members achieve better health outcomes.

Tate brings industry, health plan, managed care and retail pharmacy experience to this role. She most recently served with Bristol-Myers Squibb as director of health economics and outcomes research.

Prior to that, she served at the Tennessee Blues plan as director of corporate pharmacy affairs and regional pharmacy director. She has also been director of pharmacy for the Memphis Managed Care Corporation, and a staff pharmacist with both Memphis Mental Health Institute and Walgreens.

“Natalie brings a wide range of experience in industrial, health plan, managed care and retail pharmacy settings to this important role,” said Dr. Andrea Willis, senior vice president and chief medical officer at BlueCross. “Her strong leadership in managing pharmacy programs and teams will guide BlueCross in providing the best service for our members.”

Tate earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her bachelor’s degree is from Middle Tennessee State University. She is board certified as a pharmacotherapy specialist.
