BlueCross Promotes Thompson to Director of Quality Improvement

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee named Wisterya Thompson as director of quality improvement.

In this role, Thompson will oversee all quality improvement functions for BlueCross commercial business, including its accreditation processes.

Thompson joined BlueCross in 2005. She was most recently manager of clinical improvement, leading member and provider programs to improve member health outcomes. She oversaw accreditation and regulatory audits in this role and during her time as quality management coordinator.

“Wisterya has been a champion for quality in each role she’s served here,” said Dr. Andrea Willis, BlueCross chief medical officer. “She has great rapport with teams throughout the company working on quality initiatives for better member health.”

Thompson has 24 years of experience as a registered nurse and more than 20 years of experience in quality. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia. She holds the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) designation.
