Insurer is top Tennessee company for second consecutive year
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — According to the newest rankings released by Forbes, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is once again one of the nation’s top employers for diversity, jumping 30 places from last year’s listing to land at number three on the 2019 list.
In addition to being the top-ranked insurer on the list this year, BlueCross is the highest rated Tennessee-based company – a distinction it also held last year. The organization came in ahead of companies such as Netflix, New York Life, Buzzfeed, Emory University, Southwest Airlines, and several other Blue plans. In 2018, the inaugural year of the Forbes diversity recognition, BlueCross came in 33rd out of 250 organizations.
The ranking is primarily based on the results of a nationwide survey of 50,000 current employees conducted by Forbes in conjunction with an independent, third-party research firm. Publicly available data and non-employee recommendations are factored into the results alongside each organization’s employee responses.

BlueCross has been acknowledged for excellence by Forbes on several occasions in recent years – in addition to its diversity rankings, the company also earned a spot on the publication’s 2016 list of the country’s best places to work as well as its 2018 review of the best employers for women.
