BlueCross Selects Wilson to Oversee Community Relations, Foundation

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has named Scott Neal Wilson as its director of community relations and health foundation.

Wilson will be responsible for directing the execution of a long-term community relations strategy for BlueCross through charitable giving and civic support across the state. That includes the implementation of a new strategic giving focus on creating active, healthy spaces in communities across Tennessee and promoting the wellbeing of our neighbors. These efforts will be channeled through the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation and Community Trust, which together provide more than $10 million in annual giving.

Wilson joins BlueCross from Volkswagen Group of America, Chattanooga Operations, where he served as head of communications. There Wilson led the implementation of the company’s corporate charitable giving portfolio as well as managed the VW Partners in Education philanthropic commitment to universities across the state of Tennessee and communications planning for its eLabs program.

“Scott’s blend of corporate giving, communications, and civic service experience demonstrates his ability to develop strong relationships with a broad base of community leaders, which will be important as we partner with organizations across the state,” said Roy Vaughn, executive director of the BlueCross Health Foundation. “As a proven leader with a passion for service, he’s uniquely qualified to help us positively impact communities we serve.”

Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a member of the Leadership Tennessee Class of 2018 and an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Young American Leadership Program.
