CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Shared Health has elevated its chief operating officer John Cole to the position of chief executive officer.
Cole leads business development and operations for the company, which was relaunched in 2014 to offer Medicaid managed care consulting and services to insurers around the country.
“John has been key to the growth and early successes of Shared Health and its new focus,” said Scott Pierce, chief operating officer of BlueCross. “His significant experience in the field of managed care makes him ideal to lead this organization.”
Cole has worked in the managed care industry for over 20 years. He joined Shared Health in 2014 as chief operating officer.
Before joining Shared Health, Cole worked as a private managed care consultant whose clients included managed care organizations, state governments, and health systems. He has managed or performed key roles in the implementation of large management information systems, financial operations, network development, and managed care start-up project management.
Prior to entering private consulting, Cole served as Director of Business Development for Tennessee Health Partnership (THP), a joint venture between Covenant Health System and University of Tennessee Health System.
Cole earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
