CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee welcomes Jeffrey L. Marvel, RN, CCM, who returned to BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee as the health services director of Senior Products. In this role, he oversees the day-to-day care management operations for the company’s Medicare Advantage products.
Marvel worked for BlueCross from 2009 to 2012 as the manager of Medical Management Operations and director of Clinical Operations before accepting a position with Centene Corp. – Louisiana Healthcare Connection as the senior director of Medical Management.

Sobel, vice president and chief medical officer for senior products. “His experience and expertise in this industry, along with his background in case management and project management, make him a valuable asset to our team – which will benefit our members and providers.”
At Centene Corp., Marvel restructured both the Utilization Management and Case Management divisions to improve efficiency and contribute to an improved health benefit rating. Marvel also developed and implemented training and education programs that increased productivity, improved quality outcomes and performance improvement audits.
In addition to his experience in the insurance industry, Marvel has more than 20 years of experience working in clinical settings, including the United States Air Force Nursing Corps. He earned his Bachelors of Management and Human Relations from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He also graduated with distinction from Purdue University – North Central in Westville, Indiana with an Associate’s in Nursing Science.
