Lawrenceburg Celebrates Opening of New BlueCross Healthy Place

$950,000 investment from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation provides new community space

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. — Residents of Lawrenceburg recently gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the BlueCross Healthy Place at Rotary Park.

The City of Lawrenceburg applied for the BlueCross Healthy Place grant with the hope of improving equipment and access in the well-loved community space. The BlueCross Foundation has invested $799,175 in the project build and $159,835 in a maintenance fund, bringing the total investment to just over $950,000.

“Rotary Park is such a wonderful asset to the City of Lawrenceburg, a place where families can gather and spend quality time together,” said Lawrenceburg Mayor Blake Lay.  “The city council and I are so grateful to BlueCross BlueShield for selecting Rotary Park for the BlueCross Healthy Place grant that provides us with this beautiful playground, a place our children can enjoy for many years to come.”

“We are extremely excited to have this BlueCross Healthy Place. It is a great addition to Rotary Park and will allow many children and adults the opportunity to exercise together,” added Pam Hyde, director of Lawrenceburg Parks & Recreation. “We are very appreciative to the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation for helping make this possible.”

Park visitors will enjoy the following features in the new space:

  • Play areas for ages 2-5 and 5-12 with accessible, poured-in-place surfacing
  • Three fitness stations for cardio, balance and strength workouts
  • Swing set
  • Refurbished pavilion with new picnic tables

There are 16 BlueCross Healthy Places completed statewide, with more underway. To date, the BlueCross Foundation has invested $34.8 million in community spaces across the state.
