CHATTANOOGA— BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BlueCross) has promoted Dr. Ashima Goyal and Dr. Tracy McDowd to new roles as directors of clinical pharmacy.
Goyal oversees the team of pharmacists conducting coverage reviews for pharmacy and medical drugs for BlueCross Medicare and Medicaid plans, including BlueCare Tennessee, Medicare Advantage and BlueCare Plus. Her role includes ensuring compliance with Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) requirements and regulations.
Goyal joined BlueCross in 2019 as a Medicare coverage review pharmacist. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Temple University in Philadelphia.
McDowd leads formulary and criteria development for all BlueCross lines of business. She joined BlueCross in 2020 and previously served as a clinical pharmacy manager.
McDowd earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and is a fellow in the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy.
