What you need to know about delayed member ID cards

Due to printing and mailing delays, many of our members will be getting their ID cards after Jan. 1, 2022. If you’re among them, we know you may be concerned — but this delay will not keep you from using your benefits or getting the care you need.

If you’re affected by this delay, you may have already received an email or letter from us. To help make sure you have the information you need, we’re also answering common questions here.

If I don’t have my ID card or number, can I still get medical care or pick up a prescription?

Yes. Providers, including pharmacies, have the ability to look up your coverage information using our online portal. You can also get a digital ID card by following the steps below.

I got a letter about my late ID card. What should I do until my ID card arrives?

Your Member ID card is being created and shipped to you as quickly as possible. The letter you got from us has the information your pharmacist needs to fill your prescriptions starting Jan. 1. All you need to do is show them that letter when you drop off your prescription. It also has the information needed for medical services that you may need.

You can also get your digital ID card online through your secure bcbst.com account or by downloading our BCBSTN app. If you haven’t registered yet and know your subscriber ID, you can register a new bcbst.com account here.

Or you can download our BCBSTN app to always have access to your ID card. Your digital ID card has the information your pharmacy will need to fill a prescription, as well as information needed for any medical services.

When will my new ID card arrive?
