BlueCross Elevates Weaver to Chief Information Officer

New senior vice president will lead enterprise information technology unit

 

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BlueCross) has chosen Jennifer Weaver as senior vice president and chief information officer.

In this new role, Weaver leads more than 800 technology professionals responsible for protecting members’ data, maintaining security protocols and keeping information technology systems operating at optimal levels across the company. She provides strategic counsel and support for the development and delivery of technologies that support health care providers and health plan members.

A long-time BlueCross employee, Weaver joined the company as a business recovery coordinator in 1997 and most recently served as vice president of infrastructure and operations.

“Jennifer has an outstanding knowledge of our organization, its technological needs and our evolving goals,” said John Giblin, executive vice president and chief financial officer of BlueCross. “Her abilities to lead, collaborate, and succeed will help us meet the needs of the people we serve. We are grateful to have her in this role.”

Weaver earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Bachelor of Science in communication from the University of Tennessee. She serves on the board of Siskin Rehabilitation Hospital.
