BlueCross Named a 2022 Best Medicare Advantage Plan by U.S. News and World Report

Recognition stems from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services 4.5 star rating

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the country’s Best Insurance Companies for Medicare Advantage after the BlueAdvantage (PPO) plan earned a 4.5 star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

“We are honored to receive this additional recognition, which validates our plan’s commitment to supporting quality care and the highest level of service for our members,” Todd Ray, BlueCross senior vice president of corporate provider network management and Medicare products, said.

Each year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. The BlueCross 4.5 star rating applies to the company’s PPO plan which earned top marks from CMS in nearly every area, including measures that looked at:

  • Whether health plan members received the care they needed,
  • How members rated their health plan’s service,
  • Whether members received timely screening for conditions like breast cancer, and
  • How well members’ chronic conditions like diabetes were managed by in-network health care providers.

The U.S. News and World Report recognition, CMS Star ratings and member satisfaction scores all help seniors understand more about the quality of the plans available for the coming year. For more information about all BlueCross Medicare Advantage plans, visit bcbst-medicare.com.
