CHATTANOOGA – BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has elevated leaders from four divisions into vice president roles with the company.
“Each of these leaders has demonstrated strategic business expertise in their roles at BlueCross, and I know they will continue to build on our history of excellent service,” said Scott Pierce, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Susan Buchanan has been promoted to vice president of provider networks and contracting. She has oversight for statewide provider network contracting processes, including strategic planning related to networks across all BlueCross lines of business. Buchanan joined BlueCross in 2013 and most recently served as a regional director of provider network contracting where she led negotiations, value-based contracting, and provider service efforts for East Tennessee.
Emily Dockery has been promoted to vice president of brand management and communications. In this role, she leads the strategic planning, development, and execution of brand communications across all channels, platforms and formats for multiple external audiences across all BlueCross lines of business. Since joining BlueCross in 2005, Dockery has written and managed a variety of communications materials and campaigns designed to help members understand their benefits, drive engagement and generate sales, as well as maintain and improve the company’s brand reputation.
Rob Martin has been promoted to vice president of underwriting and commercial financial management. He’ll lead sales and retention strategy for group insured and self-funded group business, overseeing teams responsible for national employer group account pricing, regional account underwriting and quoting strategy, financial management, and external agent and broker operations. Martin joined BlueCross in 1997 and most recently served as director of underwriting and finance.
John Cole, CEO of the company’s Shared Health subsidiary, is now a corporate vice president for BlueCross. He leads teams responsible for supporting organizations in their Medicaid managed care operations and population health, as well as teams focused on Medicare Advantage Dual Special Needs Plan operations, provider networks, population health, and marketing and sales.
