Company earns top ranking among Tennessee employers
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BlueCross) has been recognized as a 2023 Best Employer for Women by Forbes, ranking No. 8 out of 400 employers included on the list, the company’s highest placement to date. It is the only health care company in the top 10 and the only payor in the top 25.
The company has been named to the Forbes Best Employers for Women list four times, also receiving the award in 2018, 2021 and 2022.
“Women make up 62 percent of management positions and 74 percent of our workforce, so we understand the need for a culture where our employees feel fulfilled and able to balance their work and personal lives,” said Ron Harris, vice president of corporate workforce diversity. “We’re honored by this recognition of our efforts to create development and advancement opportunities for all employees.”
The Best Employers for Women rankings were determined through an independent survey from a sample of approximately 60,000 U.S. employees – including 40,000 women – who work for companies with at least 1,000 people.
Forbes partnered with market research company Statista on the Best Employers for Women rankings. Survey participants were asked to rate their employer on topics such as culture, career development opportunities, salary and wages, and how likely they are to recommend their employer to others.
This designation is the third Forbes ranking earned by the company this year. In early 2023, BlueCross ranked fourth on the list of America’s Best Large Employers. The insurer was also honored as one of the country’s Best Employers for Diversity for the sixth consecutive year.
