2026 Healthy Tennessee Report shares insights on differing health outcomes

We know that where members live, their access to technology, and other social factors shape health journeys. We track these differences so we can work to close gaps in care and improve outcomes for members. And we share what we’re learning so we can bring people together to develop solutions.

That’s the purpose of the 2026 Healthy Tennessee Report, which we officially launched this month.

“We have a role to play in the public health system, alongside providers and civic leaders – and sharing our insights is an important part of how we contribute,” said Dr. Andrea Willis, SVP and chief medical officer. “This year, we’re adding an expanded set of data that shows how relative social risk levels affect Tennesseans.”

Ultimately, we act on these insights to help keep preventive care top-of-mind for all our members – and make good health more accessible and affordable.

What’s new

Now with three years of data, we have even deeper insights – plus concrete evidence that our outreach is starting to move the needle. This week, we’re launching a condensed version of the 2026 report that includes 8 key health measures. It features:

  • A clearer view of Tennessee’s three Grand Divisions
Our data now highlights how health outcomes vary among West, Middle and East Tennessee, giving us a sharper picture of what communities need.
  • A deeper lens on social risk
We updated the Social Risk Index to include access to technology, a growing factor in members’ ability to get care, make appointments and use digital tools.
  • Filtering data by social risk levels
Beyond geography, the report shows how members’ relative level of social risk affects their health outcomes — helping us tailor outreach where it’s needed most.
  • Continued progress
Across several measures, we’re seeing improvement since we began this reporting three years ago. Data is helping us guide outreach efforts more precisely, and it’s working.
  • A new focus area on the horizon
Later this year, we’ll take a closer look at the health journey of members with breast cancer — from diagnosis to treatment to follow-up care. Our goal is to better understand barriers and opportunities to support members at every step.

What it means for you

“This work reflects who we are as a company: committed to improving health opportunities and outcomes for all Tennesseans,” said Sherri Zink, SVP and chief data engagement officer. “It also supports our purpose of affordability because we know preventive care and early detection can lower costs for everyone.”
