Funds support American Red Cross efforts
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation is donating $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support its relief efforts in response to Hurricane Irma.
“The impact of Hurricane Irma across Florida was devastating, and we are keeping residents who have lost so much in our thoughts,” said Roy Vaughn, executive director of the Foundation. “We are proud to support the critical work of the American Red Cross as they help victims recover.”
According to the Florida Division of Emergency Management, the storm has left millions of residents without power and thousands living in shelters. The American Red Cross has more than 4,900 staff and volunteers on the ground in Florida, Georgia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), along with other federal, state and local agencies, as well as nonprofits like the American Red Cross, are working to ensure the safety of those impacted by the storm.
