Company earned top ranking to receive this designation
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has been recognized as a 2021 Best Employer for Women by Forbes. Across the U.S., only the 300 highest-scoring companies received this designation, and in the four years Forbes has had this award category, we’ve earned this recognition twice.
Forbes partnered with market research company Statista on the Best Employer for Women rankings. Rankings were determined through an independent survey of approximately 50,000 U.S. employees – including 30,000 women.
Survey participants were asked to rate their employer on topics such as culture, career development opportunities, salary and wages, and how likely they’d recommend their employer to others. Those responses were then reviewed for potential gender gaps. Female respondents were further asked to rate their employers on factors like discrimination, parental leave and pay equity.
“As a company whose workforce is 74 percent women, it’s critical that our female employees are valued, respected and have the support they need to be successful in their roles,” said Ron Harris, vice president of corporate workforce diversity. “It’s rewarding to see our commitment validated with this recognition and we will continue to build on our efforts.”
This designation is the third Forbes ranking earned by the company this year. In early 2021, BlueCross was named one of America’s Best Large Employers. The insurer was also honored as one the country’s Best Employers for Diversity for the fourth consecutive year.
