BlueCross Names Lomax as Director of Diversity and Inclusion

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has named April Lomax as its director of diversity and inclusion.

In her new role, Lomax will oversee all aspects of the BlueCross diversity and inclusion program. This includes developing and implementing an effective strategy within the organization and maintaining an environment that is sensitive to the needs of today’s workforce and enhances the BlueCross competitive advantage in the market.

Lomax has more than 10 years of experience in diversity and inclusion, and she most recently served as assistant director of diversity, equity and inclusion for Liberty Mutual. Prior to that, she was a senior manager of diversity and inclusion for Change Healthcare and served as an adjunct instructor of humanities at Georgia State University. From 2016 – 2018, Lomax worked at BlueCross, serving as a diversity and inclusion consultant.

“April is a talented leader with a wealth of knowledge about inclusion strategies and best practices,” said Ron Harris, BlueCross vice president of corporate workforce diversity. “We’re glad to have her back at BlueCross helping to spearhead our diversity efforts, and her expertise will support our continued commitment to cultural competency.”

She has a master’s degree in corporate communication from Austin Peay State University and earned a bachelor’s in mass communications from Middle Tennessee State University with minors in African American studies and Spanish.
