Improving member experience demonstrated in CMS-certified survey
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee’s Medicare Advantage PPO product has maintained its 4- out of 5-Star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
CMS issues the quality ratings annually based on customer satisfaction surveys, plan operations and quality outcomes covering 50 measures, including whether members get the recommended care and screenings, how well their chronic health conditions are controlled, and how satisfied they are with their health plan experience.
“Receiving this 4-Star rating for a second consecutive year validates the effectiveness of BlueCross quality, medical and care management programs,” said Todd Ray, vice president and general manager of senior products for BlueCross. “We have focused on improving the member experience and helping our members connect with their doctors to receive the quality care they need. We want to continue to support our members in leading healthy, active lives.”
The BlueCross Medicare Advantage team works directly with both members and providers to improve health outcomes. Some of those efforts include:
- Implementing programs that encourage members to get CMS-recommended care and tests
- Providing personal service to help them schedule checkups or even receive home-based assessments if they are unable to get to their doctor’s office
- Working with providers on value-based re-imbursement programs that make it easier for physicians to close gaps in care for their patients
