CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BlueCross) has been ranked one of Modern Healthcare’s 2022 Best Places to Work. The company ranked 29th out of 75 in the health care providers/insurers category. This marks the fifth year the insurer has earned a spot on this list.
Modern Healthcare recognized this year’s winners for being forward-thinking while facing new challenges in a rapidly changing industry. The news outlet also highlighted that top companies found ways to engage their entire organization in identifying the best ways to recruit, retain and reward employees.
“Throughout the year, our employees have many ways to share ideas and offer suggestions,” said Roy Vaughn, senior vice president and chief human resources officer. “This employee feedback allows BlueCross to respond quickly to the evolving needs of our workforce.”
Like many other companies, BlueCross moved quickly to transition employees to work from home in March 2020. This flexibility has helped the company both recruit and keep workers while also continuing to meet key performance measures. As a response to employee feedback, the company recently announced that remote work is here to say for the long term.
Modern Healthcare partnered with Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an employer questionnaire and an extensive employee survey. The employee engagement and satisfaction survey has eight core focus areas: leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisors, training, development and resources, pay and benefits and overall engagement.
BlueCross was also recently ranked as one of Tennessee’s Healthiest Employers and the Top Employer in Tennessee by Forbes in their 2022 list of America’s Best Employers by State.
