BlueCross Names Criswell as Vice President of Strategy and Innovation

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has named David Criswell as vice president of strategy and innovation.

In this role, Criswell will oversee enterprise risk management, strategic planning, forecasting and strategic relationships. He will also continue to update senior leadership and the board on major developments and emerging trends in the managed care industry, and to work with senior leadership and external advisors to coordinate the development of strategic initiatives and projects that will continue to enhance the company’s culture of innovation.

Criswell previously served as director of strategy and innovation, developing strategic initiatives across the enterprise and leveraging innovative programs in the managed care industry. He also managed the BlueCross teams responsible for long-range financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes, and oversaw enterprise risk management, corporate insurance and workers’ compensation.

Since joining BlueCross in 2007, Criswell has held positions as manager and later director of strategic planning and risk management, where he oversaw the company-wide implementation of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment process through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. He has also served as manager of strategy and corporate development, senior financial analyst and staff accountant.

Criswell is licensed in Tennessee as a certified public accountant (CPA) and is a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs. He previously served as a founding board member of the Rotaract Club of Chattanooga.

He earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
