No-cost reporting tool gives dashboard view of plan use, financial trends and solutions
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Businesses are focused on what drives their health care costs. With the help of a mobile web application from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, employers can easily identify and monitor health plan trends as well as track impacts of their health care initiatives.
The BlueInsightsSM app is among the first-of-its-kind designed to equip employers with their most current health plan information, by highlighting key trends and cost drivers they can use to enable quick and confident decision making. The no-cost app is compatible with any device and is available to self-funded groups with 500 or more employees.
“Our group accounts need health plan data that is always current, easily accessible and relevant to their decision making processes,” said Sherri Zink, BlueCross senior vice president and chief data and engagement officer. “BlueInsights gives our clients the portability they want and the data driven analysis they need to understand costs associated with their health plan use and ways they can efficiently manage the health and wellness needs of employees.”
With BlueInsights, clients view a dashboard of health plan data across six key performance indicators for insight on financial trends, use of health care services and effectiveness of employer health initiatives. The application opens with a company’s per member, per month financial metrics. From there, users navigate into other key performance indicator modules for in-depth analysis of trends driving health plan use:
- utilization
- population risk
- health status
- member engagement
- clinical outcomes
Each module provides both a high level and fine detail view across multiple timeframes. This enables groups to dig deeper into the current health care trend insights at their fingertips and to align benefit and employee wellness strategies.
For example, a group administrator reviewing a utilization report might find that employees are accessing emergency rooms at a high rate. From there, the company can work with BlueCross to address the problem through an education campaign, benefit structure, clinical outreach or other solutions.
Because data is refreshed monthly, BlueInsights users always have the most up-to-date information on which to base health plan initiatives.
